Built on the College of Social Work’s commitment to community service, CSW Arts & Athletics is an initiative created by Dean Nick Mazza designed to combine arts and athletics as vehicles to teach and enhance leadership development, academic achievement, socialization and other life skills for local youth, including those with limited social and economic opportunity. A service-learning component will involve FSU students from various disciplines participating as mentors, while also gaining additional leadership and community service experience. Currently, this program is being directed by an ad hoc committee, chaired by Dean Nicholas Mazza in the College of Social Work. Upon the successful completion of a pilot project in 2012, the program is now moving into its second stage in 2013.
