Agency Description:

Caring Minds Mental Health Center provides mental health services to adults and children. The services provided include; Mental Health Assessment, Individual Therapy, group therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) and medication management for adults only. The children’s PSR program consists of children ages 6-17 years old. Many of our clients are immigrants and refugees. Others are from low socio-economic status that encounter frequent stressful life situations. The majority of the clients have poor social skills and are dealing assimilation issues. The children’s PSR program aims to provide children with necessary skills to succeed and improve function in their home, community and school. Caring Minds Mental Health Center has a unique approach to mental health practices. Our services aim to enhance our client’s wellbeing and meet the basic and complex needs of each family. We believe that helping the individual and their family will contribute to overall positive mental health benefits. We provide our clients with community resources when in need. We continuously serve as client advocates. The agency’s model was structured from social work principals. We believe in confidentiality, self-determination, and a non-judgmental approach. We continuously assess our client’s and their families for needs, make a plan to meet those needs, secure those needs, and continue to evaluate and monitor. We recognize and value the importance of relationships within our society; therefore we work to strengthen these relationships to enhance our client’s wellbeing and our community as a whole.

Intern Job Description:
The agency has a variety of tasks and responsibilities available to a social work intern depending on their area of study, learning objectives, and skill level. Interns are led to thoroughly understand the required skills and responsibilities, and they are guided/trained to build required competencies. Tasks and responsibilities include assessing needs, seeking and obtaining resources for family and clients, PSR group services, group therapy, intake assessments, individual therapy, progress notes, treatment planning, biopsychosocial assessments, family contact and variety of other tasks and responsibilities.

Special Information:

This agency accepts MSW 1st year and MSW 2nd year students, both clinical and social leadership, both full and part-time. Liability insurances is not necessary but is recommended. Video and audio taping may be permitted with consent of client or guardian. Weekend and evening hours are available. The agency is accessible by bus. COVID-19 vaccine is required.
