The Center for Heath Equity’s vision is to eliminate all disparities in health outcomes due to race, age, gender, geography, and/or social status. The health areas addressed include those that are addressed in the Healthy People 2010 Objectives. The populations served and age ranges are any that are affected by disparities in health outcomes. Because health outcomes and particularly disparities in heath outcomes are affected by a myriad of social determinants including discrimination based on age, race, gender, and social status in particular, the role of social work is critical. The Center’s primary function is to seek funding that supports a broad range of social science and service research areas that focus on health and health related issues.
