Flint River Hospital is a 49-bed acute care hospital that offers outpatient diagnostics and a rural
health designated clinic. Inpatient services include General Medical, Adult and Geriatric Behavioral
Health, as well as Medical Detox.
I n t e r n J o b D e s c r i p t i o n:
The social worker would work with inpatients to develop a safe and adequate discharge plan.
Discharge planning begins on day one of admission and the social worker would identify
resources needed for each particular patient. The social worker would ensure that all patients
have a safe place to return to/go to upon discharge. They would work with outpatient providers
to make follow-up appointments and would assist the patient with any other resources needed to
facilitate stability after discharge. The social worker would manage the legal status of all
inpatients and ensure initiation and completion of all proper paperwork to include voluntary and
involuntary statuses. The social worker is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team and
would attend/participate in all treatment team meetings.

Special Placement Information:

Agency is accepting MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Students, Part-time MSW and Clinical.  Students must provide their own transportation. Travel is not reimbursed by the agency, nor is a stipend available. Students do need liability insurance. Neither video nor audio taping is permitted. The agency is a 24-hour facility. Weekends and evenings are possible from time to time. The agency is not accessible by bus. This agency is required to conform to HIPAA regulations. Covid-19 vaccination is required.
