Disaster Recovery Certificate And Professional Certificate in Disaster Recovery
The Social Work in Disaster Recovery Certificate (SWDR) and Professional Certificate in Disaster Recovery (PCDR) programs are now available to students enrolled at Florida State University. The SWDR is for students in the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at the FSU College of Social Work; while the PCDR is for graduate students in other disciplines and non-degree seeking students at the university. Each course of study will equip participating students with the knowledge, awareness, and skills necessary to provide culturally sensitive disaster relief services and long-term recovery case management. A central component of the programs places emphasis on cultural awareness, evidence-based knowledge development, culturally sensitive mental health intervention, organizational cultural competence, and strategic planning with vulnerable populations in disaster relief and long-term recovery.
In order to complete the SWDR certificate program, participating students must complete a designated field placement. The PCDR program of study does not require a field placement.
