Social Work Researcher Advances Literature on Pediatric Quality of Life in Organ Transplant Patients

A Florida State University professor is paving the way for social workers, psychologists and transplant teams across the country to increase the quality of life for children who have received organ transplants.

Assistant Professor of Social Work Michael Killian has published a new study that takes a step back and examines current data related to assessment tools for pediatric organ transplant recipients to improve these children’s quality of life and ensure a successful transplant.

Welcome Jessica Greil-Burkhart to the FSU Social Work Faculty

Jessica Greil-Burkhart joins the Florida State University College of Social Work (FSU CSW) as an instructional specialist. She is a two-time FSU graduate with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology (2013) and her Master of Social Work (2015) and a licensed clinical social work in Florida and Georgia.

Faculty Member Appointed BSW Program and Professional Development Director

Carol Campbell Edwards, a proud FSU College of Social Work graduate (MSW, 1985; BSW, 1984) and faculty member, was appointed as the new director of the BSW Program and Professional Development office at the college after the retirement of faculty member Pam Graham MacDill. Carol stepped into her roles starting in January 2020.

Faculty Member Inducted into the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare

Dr. Amy L. Ai, a professor at the FSU College of Social Work, was inducted in late 2020 into the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare (AASWSW). The academy is an honorific society of distinguished scholars and practitioners dedicated to achieving excellence in social work and social welfare through high impact work that advances social sciences and societal good.
