Giving
Support from our College of Social Work community is what helps us ensure the success of current and future generations of social workers. That support can come in many forms, including your time, treasures, and talents.
Below are a few ways to give to the college, along with acknowledgment for some of our generous supporters. If you would like to connect about how you can leave your legacy and ensure the continued commitment of the College of Social Work to social work education and the profession, I invite you to connect with me.

Ways to Give
Donors can make gifts and pledge payments through online giving, check, credit card, automatic bank drafts, or even payroll deduction for FSU faculty and staff. Many donors take advantage of the tax savings that come from giving appreciated stocks, shares of mutual funds or property. A growing number of alumni and friends incorporate gifts into their financial and estate plans.
Your Annual Gift can be given to a specific program at the College or to the College’s Tradition of Excellence Fund. Unrestricted gifts to the Tradition of Excellence Fund give the Dean the greatest flexibility in assisting educational programs that need some extra financial help. We ask everyone to make an annual contribution.
Take a moment to make your annual gift online or by phone at (850) 644-6000.
Endowments support a wide variety of initiatives at College of Social Work — scholarships, fellowships, research studies, professorships, academic chairs, lecture series, programs, scientific and technical equipment purchases, capital improvements and more while creating a lasting benefit to the college.
When an endowment is established, the funds are invested and only the income from the investment is used to support its purpose. This preserves the donor’s original gift in perpetuity, guaranteeing they will have an impact on the University for generations to come.
The minimum gift needed to establish an endowment is $25,000, which can be paid over a period of years, usually 5. Donors may use either outright or deferred gifts to establish named endowed funds. Pledges can be paid with securities such as stocks, CD’s, IRA’s or Real Estate.
Endowments can be established in the donor’s name, the name of their business, or in honor of someone important to the donor. Donors also can specify how they would like the income from the endowment to be used. The College of Social Work takes time with each donor to prepare guidelines for the administration of each named endowed fund. Guideline length and degree of specificity depend upon the donor’s wishes and particular circumstances.
Check with your employer to see if your gift to FSU qualifies for your company’s Matching Gift program. Funding from a Matching Gift program can double or triple the value of your gift to CSW. To find out if your company participates in such a program, ask your human resources department.
Careful estate planning yields special advantages for donors and their heirs while enabling them to support the important work of Florida State in a significant and lasting way. The FSU Foundation Office of Planned Giving can help donors meet their philanthropic and financial goals while they provide significant support to the University and its various academic programs. There are many ways contributors can ensure the future of the institution. Learn more about making a planned gift to FSU.
Just like gifts of cash or securities, gifts of property/real estate may be used to benefit any area of the University you wish to support—whether it is scholarships, professorships or campus facilities. Giving property to the Florida State University Real Estate Foundation is an avenue University donors have for making gifts that may have been difficult for them to make in the past. Learn more at:
FSU’s College of Social Work is privileged to have an enthusiastic and talented faculty. Yet, the competition for attracting and retaining such an outstanding faculty is growing annually.
Funding a named professorship can help insure that our students get the best possible education from a faculty who have demonstrated excellence and are committed to remaining at the top of their field. The income from a named professorship helps CSW offer competitive salaries while providing funds to support faculty research and classroom activities. The minimum gift required to create an endowed professorship is $100,000, which can be paid over a period of five (5) years.
Professorships can be established in the donor’s name, the name of their business, or in honor of someone important to the donor. Donors also can specify how they would like the income from the professorship endowment to be used.

Every year, high school seniors receive the exciting news that they have been accepted into the incoming freshman class at FSU. But then reality hits home. “How am I going to pay for the cost of my education?” This question is asked repeatedly by incoming freshmen, undergraduates trying to stay in school, and graduate students looking to further their education.
Creating an endowed scholarship is a great way to provide a growing number of these deserving students with the financial resources necessary to reach their academic dreams, and begin pursuing exciting careers. The minimum gift required to create an endowed scholarship is $50,000, which can be paid over a period of five (5) years.
You can also help fund a student’s education without creating a new scholarship but by supporting one of our existing student scholarships. Please check out some of our current scholarships.
Whether starting a new scholarship, or helping grow an existing scholarship, CSW wants to help you find the best way to help our growing number of students while fulfilling your philanthropic goals.
If you wish to discuss establishing a scholarship or making a gift to an existing one please contact Paige Kubik, Director of Development, at pmkubik@fsu.edu or (850) 644-5939.
