Caregiver luncheon honors Jacksonville Military Caregivers

Operation Family Caregiver

On April 7, 2016, the Florida State University College of Social Work hosted a Military Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon in Jacksonville, Florida at Epping Forest Yacht Club to offer support to caregivers and to inform them about the services available through the Operation Family Caregiver program. The Jacksonville luncheon was the third in the Military Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon series that the College will provide throughout the state.

Attendees of the event learned about the free, confidential services the OFC program provides to caregivers of military service members and veterans through its Tallahassee location on the Florida State University campus. Margaret Ashmore, MSW, Program Manager and Caregiver Coach Wendy Turney, MSW presented an overview of the Tallahassee program. Dean Jim Clark of the College of Social Work spoke at the event to honor the luncheon caregiver guests and recognize their hard work and dedication.

The FSU College of Social Work in partnership with the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving houses a branch of the Operation Family Caregiver Program on the Florida State University campus in Tallahassee, Florida that provides services all over the Southeastern region of the United States. With the support of Florida State University President John Thrasher, the luncheon series will continue through 2016 with visits to other Florida cities including: Panama City and Pensacola.
