Macro Social Work Student Network
Becca Horn
MSWSN President
Rebecca (Becca) Horn is a BSW student in her senior year. Originally from Fort Pierce, Florida, she moved to Tallahassee from New Orleans to attend Florida State. She serves as MSWSN’s president but has also served as the membership engagement chair. “I love MSWSN’s mission of promoting the importance of macro-level social work,” she emphasized. She was drawn to social work after working a decade in the restaurant industry. “I pursued a degree in social work because I connected with the code of ethics and it was a good way to utilize my interpersonal skills in a more meaningful, fulfilling way,” Becca said. Although still exploring her interests in social work, Becca is interested in criminal justice reform and plans to continue her education to earn an MSW with a concentration in Social Leadership.
Ely Martinez-Cancino
MSWSN Vice President
Ely is an MSW in her second year of the clinical pathway from Denver, Colorado. She is more interested in human rights alongside diversity, equity and inclusion issues. Ely has also worked with the Arts and Athletics Program within the College of Social Work, mentoring middle school students through the afterschool program. She hopes to work in a corporate or healthcare setting to help diversify the workforce.
Danni Hickey
Secretary and Treasurer
Danni Hickey is a graduate student pursuing dual degrees in social work and public administration from Ocala, Florida. They found themselves drawn to social work after being furloughed from a job in 2020, followed by taking a position at an emergency homeless shelter. “I fell in love with advocacy in that role,” they shared. Danni joined MSWSN to become more involved in the College of Social Work while honing their macro social work skills. “I found this organization and felt it was a perfect fit for my needs and abilities,” Danni expressed. They have continued to serve in social work roles to provide housing for those in need but hope to pursue a job in advocacy or legislative work after graduation.
Annie Johansson
Public Relations Coordinator
Annie is a BSW in her senior year from Tampa, Florida. She expressed a passion for helping others and is enjoying this advocacy at the macro level. She has enjoyed working with the LGBTQ+ youth population and courses involving public policy and social welfare. After graduation, Annie plans to apply for the dual degree program to pursue an MSW and law degree to become a public policy or child advocacy attorney.
Dorothy Lane
Event Coordinator
Dorothy Lane is a second-year graduate student pursuing social work and public administration degrees through the MSW/MPA Program. She is interested in working at the intersection of accessibility and victim services. She has experience in child welfare, refugee resettlement, and domestic violence programming. Dorothy has continued to work in the child welfare sector in Florida while pursuing her degrees and serving as the event coordinator for MSWSN.
Sabrina Maldonado
Student and Alumni Relations Director
Sabrina is an MSW student from Desoto County, Florida. She has enjoyed working with MSWSN describing the student organization's, “outreach and service to campus and communities as an enriching experience.” “I believe macro social work is vital as it segues into mezzo and macro levels to connect our populations to various resources available,” she added. Sabrina is interested in working with adolescents and adults on mental health and substance misuse. She plans to pursue her MSW and social work licensure to become a clinical therapist.
Brittany Mackey
Membership Engagement Coordinator
Brittany is a BSW student in her junior year from Chattahoochee, Florida. “I was motivated to join this organization because I hope to make new friends and professional connections while serving my community and school,” she said. After graduation, Brittany hopes to complete her social work education by pursuing an MSW degree. She hopes to work with children at the community level.

Wayn’nyria Johnson
SASW President
Wayn’nyria is an MSW student from Fort Myers, Florida, pursuing her MSW with a clinical concentration. “I have a personal passion for improving the well-being of others, creating greater access to a better life,” she expressed. She enjoys working with children and hopes to become a trauma-informed care specialist or children’s counselor. Wayn’nyria has relished her experiences as an intern with DISC Village’s Civil Citation Program.
Camdyn Dyer
SASW Secretary
Camdyn (Cam) is a junior in the BSW Program from Virginia near Washington, DC. Her father and boyfriend are active military service members, giving her unique insights into this population. “I’ve witnessed firsthand the struggles of active-duty people and veterans, and after talking to a social worker, I decided that’s what I wanted to do,” she explained. She plans to continue her social work education through her master’s degree and work with military populations.
Allison Bloski
SASW Community Outreach
Allison is a junior in the BSW Program and is from Bradenton, Florida. “Social work spoke to me because I like the human aspect of the field,” she shared. “I also like the broadness of the field and how many opportunities there are to work with different kinds of people.” Although new to FSU, she’s felt welcomed into the program and hopes to pursue an MSW and work with children who are victims of sexual abuse.
Jayci Qassis
SASW Fundraising
Jacyi is a BSW student from Monroe, Michigan, who saw social work as a great profession to learn more about mental health and the systems within to help those in need. She was drawn to SASW because of her interest in organizational outreach and working towards a common goal. “I want to pursue international social work,” she shared. She is also currently volunteering with children at a play therapy facility.
Gabrielle Welch
SASW Public Relations
Gabrielle is a BSW student in her senior year from Gainesville, Florida, passionate about being a voice for vulnerable women and children. She joined SASW to become more involved and become a better leader. Gabrielle has enjoyed getting to know her fellow social work students and forming study groups for courses like Social Work Research. She hopes to work with children and plans to continue her education to earn her MSW.
Samiyah Wilson
SASW Membership
Samiyah is BSW student in her senior year from Lakeland, Florida. She has enjoyed getting more involved with other social work students through SASW while also encouraging other students to do the same as the membership chair. Samiyah plans on continuing her education after graduation to earn her MSW and hopes to work with youths in the area of mental health.
