Alberta Health Services (AHS) is the largest province wide integrated health system, responsible for delivering health care to more than 4.4 million people in Alberta as well as neighboring provinces and territories.  AHS employs more than 112,300 direct employees and is supported by 9100 volunteers and 11,000 physicians.  There are 8523 acute care beds, 28360 continuing care beds and 3077 addiction and mental health spaces.  There are also 40 primary care partnerships.  This practicum will be offered at Red Deer Regional Hospital, a central hospital serving a population of 450,000 over a vast geographical are in Central Alberta.  There are about 350 acute care beds, and Emergency Dept, ICU, Psychiatry med/surg beds, Women's Health and numerous outpatient clinics.  Many students from medicine, nursing, OT, PT, SLP, Respiratory and Social Work are placed here.

This placement is only at the facility, so travel off site is not needed.  There is evening until 9 and weekend work required.  Liability insurance is required.  Video and audio taping permitted as per the AHS policy with proper consent.
