AFS services the following populations:
• Children and youth ages 0-20 in need of short term emergency placements referred by county
Departments of Human Services and Juvenile Probation.
• Children and youth ages 0-20 in need of non-emergency placements referred by county
Departments of Human Services and Juvenile Probation.
• Children and youth ages 0-20 with developmental disabilities referred by county Departments
of Human Services and Regional Centers.
• Children and youth ages 0–20 with serious emotional and behavioral issues referred by
Departments of Human Services, Probation, and Regional Centers
• Non-minor dependents ages 18-20 referred by county Departments of Human Services, Juvenile
Probation, and Regional Centers.
Requested Placement Information
Agency business hours:
AFS office hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Although we have set office hours, our
agency staff are available to our clients 24 hours/7 days a week to accommodate youth and families’
schedules and also support with unforeseen crisis situations.
? Intern’s work schedules will be developed with direct supervisor to meet client and intern
needs.
? Video and audio taping are not permitted due to client confidentiality.
? All AFS offices are near public transportation.
Driving requirements
This position requires the intern to work in the community and within foster homes throughout the
Bay Area. Thus, position requires employee to possess a valid CA driver’s license and valid
automobile insurance with his/her name on the verification card as an insured driver on the policy
at all times. Position requires daily access to a car in safe working order.
• Agency reimburses mileage at a federal mileage rate (rate is subject to change).
• In-person services require travel to client's home, or other community locations which may
be outside San Francisco County
• Must be able/willing to provide services via telehealth or in person depending on the safety
issues and needs of the client.
