The Agency coordinates the service delivery system for individuals age 60 and older in a fourteen county planning and service area. We are contracted by with the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs to administer home and community-based services with state and federal funds. The Agency subcontracts with aging service providers to deliver direct care through services such as respite. home delivered meals (Meals on Wheels), homemaking and personal care. Our Agency manages the Elder Helpline to link older adults and care givers to a variety of home and community-based services; we are statutorily required to conduct client intake/assessment for aged and disabled adults in order to assist them access our programs and/or the Statewide Managed Long-Term Care Program. Social Work related roles include managing a prioritized client wait list, contract management, monitoring and quality assurance to evaluate compliance with State and Federal laws related to program management and service delivery, and program evaluation. 

Special Placement Information:

The agency is accepting MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing students, (Social Leadership) and Part-time MSWs. We may be able to provide a stipend, but cannot guarantee it until time of student placement interview; student is responsible for their own transportation to internship; Star Metro has bus stops near Riggins Road and Mahan Drive, which are a short walking distance to the office; travel may occur with agency staff within 14 county area for special events or site visits. Agency hours are Mon-Fri 8 am - 5:00 pm; no weekend or evening hours are available; causal business attire, no jeans or flip flops; students do not need to obtain liability insurance.
