Catholic Charities is a 501 (C)(3) faith-based non-profit organization that serves 38 counties in Middle Tennessee. Our services include adoptions, parental support, counseling and emotional support, hunger relief, job training, refugee and immigration support, senior support, emergency assistance, housing stability, and disaster recovery to people of every religious, ethnic, cultural, and racial background. We have multiple locations from which we serve the community, including the McGruder Family Resource Center in North Nashville, South
Nashville Family Resource Center. The family resource center model has been established in Coffee, Maury, and Montgomery Counties of Middle Tennessee through our County Expansion program. Utilizing a 2-Generation Service Model, the goal of the county expansion is to increase low-income families’ self-sufficiency by assisting clients with basic needs services (such as hunger relief), workforce development, housing assistance, and/or counseling services.
Catholic Charities does reimburse travel for students who use their personal vehicle for Catholic Charities related activities. Students may be asked to transport clients in an agency vehicle (if permitted by the school). Students who use their personal vehicle for agency business or drive a Catholic Charities vehicle, are required to have liability insurance. Catholic Charities also adds students to the agency insurance for students who drive an agency vehicle. Video or audio taping of sessions is only permitted if the client(s) sign an authorization form.
Second year MSW students accepted as an intern with the Counseling Department must be able to complete their hours across two semesters.
Catholic Charities primary hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some of the programs for elders and youth have hours available from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday. The Nashville locations of Catholic Charities are accessible by bus. No Stipend.
