East Alabama Medical Center is an acute care hospital setting with approximately 334 beds. The hospital has several medical units including surgery, cardiac care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric services, and an emergency department. The hospital serves residents of east central Alabama and western Georgia. Clients from birth to elderly are served. Social Work is a anceillary service of the hospital. Social Works provide initial assessments for high risk patients and identify/facilitate discharge needs including medical equipment, home services, community based providers, and physician follow up appointments. Social Workers serve as an integral part of the medical interdisciplinary team.
Accepting BSW and MSW 1st year and 2nd year/Advanced Standing (clinical). Full time positions only. Students will work during normal business hours Monday-Friday. A stipend is not available. Students will need their own liability insurance coverage. No travel is required. Video and audio taping are not permitted due to federal regulations.
