Faith Lutheran Church has facilitated a free clothing closet for several years, but has recently shifted its approach to focus on mutual aid instead of charity. The Clothing Closet empowers the neighbors who shop at the closet to volunteer and give back to their community. Through community collaboration neighbors who are Spanish-speaking, English-speaking, and bilingual (Spanish-English) are building trust with one another to share what other needs they have, some of which include access to resources for undocumented individuals and families.
Requirements of the Intern: bilingual in Spanish and English, available to attend Clothing Closet, currently each 1st and 3rd Friday, 1pm-3pm
Student will need transportation and we do not reimburse for travel. Students do not need liability insurance, audio/video taping is permitted as appropriate. Internship hours are flexible with preference that the intern can be at the Clothing Closet each 1st and 3rd Fridays from 1pm-3pm.
