State Civil Mental Health 395 Hospital, treating patients over 18 years of age, assisting patients under Chapter 394 F.S., to no longer meet Baker Act criteria and be returned to a less restrictive environment. These patients are mentally ill and a threat to self or others/vulnerable. The hospital also houses residents that are committed by the Circuit Courts of Florida under Chapter 916, F.S. These residents are Step-downs from a Secure Treatment Facility and continue to be treated toward return to Court or release in a Civil setting.  Social Workers are an integral part of the Treatment Team assigned to each patient. They are the strongest. link to the hospital care and outside community resources available to assist these patients toward discharge. They also work to integrate the families and courts toward a cohesive team assisting the patient toward recovery.  Northeast Florida State Hospital in Macclenny, FL provides psychiatric services to adults of all ages who have a major psychiatric illness and are referred to NEFSH from community mental health centers, having met Baker Act criteria.  The Department of Social Services offers an Internship Program for MSVV and BSVV candidates. Our program provides a wide variety of experiences on both levels, structured to meet the needs of the student as well as requirements of their School of Social work.  Social Services provides an array of opportunities including but not limited to: completing psychosocial, monthly progress notes, addendums, treatment team experience, SIP notes, brief individual counseling, recovery center groups, crisis intervention, assistance with discharge duties, conducting community conference meetings.

The Agency is accepting Full-time BSW, MSW 1st year student, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Clinical Students, Part-time BSW, Part-time MSW. 
 This placement will be held at Northeast Florida State Hospital, 7487 South State Road 121, Macclenny, FL 32063. All patients are housed here, and patients will not be transported in personal vehicles. This is a 24-hour facility; however, our interns are only allowed to be present when they can be supervised by a social worker during regular work hours of Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm. Evening and weekend hours are not permitted. There is no stipend for this placement.
