JIRDC is an intermediate care facility for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Currently we serve 261 individuals ranging in age from 18-80 years old with 84% functioning in the severe/profound range.  
The role of the Social Worker is to serve as a liaison between the family and interdisciplinary team.  The Social Worker is the first point of contact from the family/guardian. The Social Worker takes the lead with home admissions and discharges, explains and obtains needed consents, completes annual SW review, completes admission and discharge evaluations, assists with keeping families connected with residents, communicates resident needs and progress to guardians, monitors resident account balances, completes Medicaid and Social Security reviews, and much more. Social Workers also have direct contact with residents on a daily basis engaging in activities, assisting with family visits, etc.

Special placement information:
Accepting BSW, MSW 1st-year, and MSW 2nd-year/Advanced Standing (clinical) students. Full- and part-time positions available. 
Transportation to and from facility required.  Agency not accessible by public transit. When at the facility, transportation will be provided for any task requiring travel outside the facility.  Students are not permitted to drive state vehicles so an approved driver will be responsible.  
Video-/Audio-taping permitted with guardian consent. 
Agency hours: 8:00AM-5:00PM, with an hour for lunch, Monday-Friday. Occasional weekend and evening hours available.
