Oceans Behavioral Hospital of Hammond is an Acute Psychiatric Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Program. On the inpatient unit, we treat the adult and geriatric population with diagnoses that span the DSM-5 that are deemed to be in crisis or gravely disabled. The OOP has tracks for adolescents, adults in which we treat clients with diagnoses spanning the DSM-5. These clients are deemed stable for outpatient treatment, but benefit from a higher level of care than a traditional outpatient setting.
We do not offer transportation, travel reimbursements or stipends for students. Liability insurance is not a requirement for practicum/internship students. Video/audio taping is permitted if the patient/client is not seen in the video and with patient/client consent. The inpatient hospital is open 24/7, however clinical staff work day time shifts (anywhere from 7am-5pm) and therefore supervision would not be available after normal business hours. IOP tracks run M-F-10AM-1PM, M,W, F-1PM-4PM, M-W-5PM-7:30PM and M-TH-4:30PM-6:30PM with supervision available.
