River’s Edge Counseling is proud to serve our area as the premier trauma-informed mental health counseling group practice in Clay County.  Ours is a team of highly trained experts specializing in the field of trauma as it pertains to the physical and sexual abuse of children and adults, as well as addressing the effects of PTSD in our military members.  We use evidence-based treatment modalities such as Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) just to name a few.  We require that all of our team members obtain training and/or certification in at least one of these modalities.  We partner with local agencies to provide appropriate referrals for resources as needed for families that are suffering the effect of abuse or domestic violence. Clients are age 4 and older.

MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing, (clinical). The student will work under the guidance of a Licensed Supervisor in Social Work as he/she services local traumatized children in partnership with Clay County Schools and this will require some traveling.  Transportation will not be available and the intern will be required to arrange it for themselves without a stipend or reimbursement.  Student liability will be covered under the practice.  Audiotaping may be permitted.  Student hours are flexible and we will work with the intern to arrange hours that are appropriate for him/her.
