Agency Description:

Safe Children Coalition Inc. (SCC) is a non-profit Community-Based Care (CBC) provider of education, prevention, diversion, and child welfare services, including adoption and foster care. SCC has been providing community-based services in Circuit 12, covering Sarasota, Manatee, and DeSoto Counties since 1997. During fiscal year 2024, Sec supported more than 9,300 individuals across the region with a continued focus on keeping children and families out of the formal child welfare system. SCC serves children from birth to age 23 and their families. The role of social work is to provide individualized prevention counseling to an underserved population of youth who are at risk for removal, being locked out of their home, or becoming further involved with DJJ due to problematic or unsafe behavior, aggression, substance misuse, school-related problems, and ongoing conflict at home. The main goal of the social worker is to implement preventive measures that strengthen and stabilize the youth and family and prevent the need for entry into child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
