Agency Description:

Samaritan Health and Wellness Center, Inc. is a Christ-centered family medical integrated behavioral health clinic providing affordable healthcare and counseling for uninsured and under insured men, women, and children living in Southwest FL and beyond (telehealth available for those living/traveling in Florida). Everyone is welcome to come for care, and small fees for service are charged. No insurance is required or billed. These fees make up approximately 50% of the operating budget with the remainder coming from grants and donations from individuals, churches, small businesses, community organizations, and foundations. Mental health counselors and social workers collaborate in this integrated practice with nurse practitioners to provide care of the body, mind, and spirit of those who come to Samaritan. 

Intern Job Description:
The intern will be responsible for patient intake and counseling as well as assisting in case management services. The patients as young as three years are able to come for counseling services. Samaritan has dedicated play therapy room as well as a child friendly counseling office. The intern will work directly with Dr. Joel Montalvo, the director of counseling services as well as four advanced practice registered nurses (APRN) in the integrated care of all patients. 

Special Information:

This agency accepts full and part time MSW 1st Year and 2nd Year/Advanced Standing students (clinical). Hours of operation: Monday 8-6, Tuesday 8-7, Wednesday 8-6, Thursday 9-6, Friday 8-2. COVID vaccinations are not required, masks are required. Liability insurance is a plus. No video or audio taping. Intern to provide own transportation, all work occurs in the office so no travel requirements.
