The Sterling Center is a community-based, non-profit agency that specializes in child welfare using trauma-informed and family systems approaches. Our agency comes from humble beginnings; starting with only a few clinicians in Fort Myers, today we receive referrals from all over the Gulf Coast, central and northeast, FL. Our agency is passionate about the work that is being done in the community by the clinicians and interns. Our clients know that The Sterling Center clinicians are partners and advocate for their families. We work collaboratively with families on goal setting and making lasting changes to improve their quality of life and well-being. Here at The Sterling Center, we are equally passionate about creating a supportive and encouraging culture for our clinicians. We serve clients from ages 3 to unlimited.
Special Placement Information:
The Agency is accepting BSW, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Clinical Students, Social Leadership, Part-time BSW, and Part-time MSW. Interns will need to be able to see clients face to face at the office or at the community and also virtually, the internship is unpaid. The possibility to transition to employment after graduation is offered. No reimbursement or stipends are provided during internship. The internship hours are flexible as clients can be seen various hours according to the clients and intern availability. Video recording is not used during the sessions due to confidentiality. Liability insurance is required and can be the school liability insurance. Agency is centrally located and accessible by bus.
