Victory Programs is a non-profit organization located in Boston, MA. The agency serves individuals with housing, substance use treatment, and supportive services. New Joelyn’s Home is a 24-bed residential substance use recovery home for women and the LGBTQ+ community, which is part of Victory Programs. Residents may reside in the program for 3-9 months. Typically, residents are unhoused from Boston and surrounding areas. Residents that are 18+ years old are eligible for services. The role of a social worker in this program would be to engage with residents on an individual and community level. This would include meeting with residents for biopsychosocial assessments, treatment planning, crisis management, relapse prevention planning, and psycho-educational group facilitation.
The student is able to access the program via bus or personal vehicle. She will be able to be reimbursed for mileage when using her personal vehicle for work events beyond going to her assigned site. She does not need liability insurance. She is unable to utilize video or audio recording, however, will be completing process recording through transcribing interventions. The site is open 24/7, 365 days of the year, and working hours are acceptable on any day during week or weekend.
