Tri-County S.P.E.A.K.S. (formerly People Against Rape), is one of the oldest rape crisis centers in the Carolinas, as well as one of the oldest in the country. Tri-County S.P.E.A.K.S. is the leading authority on sexual violence and the region’s most vocal expert when it comes to preventing, educating, advocating, and supporting adult survivors of sexual violence throughout their healing journey. The organization serves adult survivors of sexual assault within the Tri-County area of the Lowcountry, and it is 24-Hour Crisis Hotline (843) 745-0144 is available 365 days a year with trained advocates available to answer calls from victims, survivors, friends, and family. Members of sexual assault victims. Social work interns will have the opportunity to provide support services on our 24-hour crisis hotline, co-facilitate support groups and skills-based groups, offer.  1 on 1 skills for psychological recovery, provide outreach to the community on TCS mission and services, engage co.

Special Placement Information:

BSW Full time, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing, (Social Leadership), Part-time BSW, Part-time MSW.  We do not offer counseling as we are an advocacy and case management agency.  There is opportunity for social leadership placements.  Student will need reliable transportation to office, community events, or to provide support during a hospital accompaniment. We do not offer stipends. Interns will need liability insurance and must turn in their first week of internship. Our hours are 8:30 Am - 5:00PM however we ask all interns to assist with our 24-hour hotline which may require occasional weeknight or weekend shifts.  Agency is accessible by bus. We will thoroughly train the intern on how to provide services to victims and
survivors.
