The Alachua County Housing Authority (ACHA) is a non-profit organization that oversees and manages public housing programs aimed at providing affordable housing options to the low-income individuals and families of Alachua County. ACHA provides services to the disabled, elderly, veterans, and a variety of low-income, vulnerable individuals and families. Clients' ages range from 18 to 80+. It is ACHA's goal to provide rental subsidies to eligible low-income households, allowing them to rent private market housing while working to enforce anti-discrimination laws in housing and ensure that applicants and tenants are treated fairly regardless of race, gender, disability, or other protected characteristics. While working to provide rental subsidies, ACHA is also working to construct and develop new affordable housing stock via low-income tax credits and other avenues to increase the availability of low-cost housing in Alachua County.
