Information

Embark Behavioral Health Atlanta North serves ages 12-26 at a partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) capacity. Clients are admitted to either level of programming based on reported symptomology and needs of treatment. Clients are then placed in the adolescent (12-17) or the young adult (18-26) programming. Embark offers PHP programming (5) days a week, (5) hours a day, and IOP programming (4) days a week, (3) hours a day. Most common diagnoses consist of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, mood disorders, personality disorders, etc. Embark’s purpose is to be able to teach emotional regulation skills to have clients learn how to manage their own feelings and emotional responses through group settings. In individual and family sessions, therapists are customizing treatment to best serve the client and families. The role of social work operates on a micro and mezzo level, being able to collaborate with the team, families, and communities to provide holistic care. The role in this setting leans heavily towards clinical practice with individual, family, and group settings, however, provides opportunities to work from a systemic lens.

Interns will be expected to have a form of transportation to get to the site placement. Reimbursements are not available. The agency is accessible by bus and is about a (4) minute walk from the bus stop at the North Springs Station. Students are not required to have liability insurance, but it is highly recommended due to the acuity of the clientele served. Video and audio taping is permitted if clients and family sign waivers at the beginning of treatment. Agency hours are broken are from 8:30 am – 7:00 pm, Monday – Friday. Students are often able to choose which shifts they would like to attend, morning or evening. Internship hours can be flexible, however, interns are encouraged to attend at least (3) days a week to see clients and families.
