Provides palliative care to any person who is in the final stages of life by caring for the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of each person served. Care is provided through physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, hospice care aides, volunteers and bereavement counselors. Social workers have the opportunity to work with patients and families before or after death by providing counseling and case management services. The Bethany Center for Grieving Children is one program that GSH offers for interns to provide grief counseling, group therapy, children's camp and many other special needs.
BSW, 1st yr. MSW, clinical 2nd yr. MSW, part-time. Students are required to have reliable transportation to client homes and other places in the community. Mileage reimbursement can sometimes be provided based on funding availability (this is limited). Students are initially required to attend a 2-week general orientation M-F, 8 - 4 p.m. in the Tampa office. Weekend and evening hours are available for MSW students.
