Therapeutic foster care (TFC)  is a community-based program for children whose special needs can be met through services delivered primarily by trained foster parents working in partnership with the child, the child's family, and child care professionals. TFC children may range in age from birth to 21. The Social Worker's primary function is to provide services to foster care children and foster parents. Services include assisting with parent recruitment, foster parent training and evaluation, coordination of support services, relationship building, and family goal setting.

Full-time and part-time BSW and  MSW students. Students will be processed through Human Resources as regular employees; criminal background check CAN report, physical examination, and drug screen. Students must show proof of liability insurance if the student uses a vehicle for transporting children. Students will be reimbursed for approved expenses while carrying out assigned responsibilities. Reimbursement for meals and mileage will be at the rate established by the agency. Students may be reimbursed for physical exams, TB skin tests, or drug screens if the school does not provide physicals and drug screens. UMCH will pay for the criminal background check. Office hours are from 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. Weekend and evening on-call hours are available.
