Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only University-based comprehensive Cancer Center and only Cancer Center of Excellence in the region.  We serve mostly adults and caregivers that have been touched by cancer diagnosis and treatment.  The role of social work is to support the patients on all aspects of their journey through cancer (emotional, practical, advocacy, etc.)

MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd Year and advanced standing, (Social Policy and Administration) (Clinical) Additional Comments:  Our preference is Advanced Standing Students, at times will accept an MSW first year student depending on availability and site.  The Director will be able to take interns that have an interest in administration and policy as well as clinical. Sylvester has many locations from Deerfield Beach, Plantation, Hollywood, Kendall, Coral Gables, and Miami.  There are different transportation options.  Our most popular location is the Miami location near Jackson Memorial Hospital.  It is easily accessible through bus and Metrorail.  Other locations, such as Deerfield offer free parking.  Travel is not reimbursed by the agency.  No evening and weekend hours available. At times, there is a support group in the evening hours, but that is not a common occurrence.
