Oluwaseun Jegede is a doctoral student in the College of Social Work and a graduate assistant with the Florida Institute for Child Welfare. Her research focuses on the intersections of child welfare, domestic violence, and mental health. She is studying the experiences of children exposed to domestic violence in various care settings and examines how these insights can inform the development of interventions and programs that support young people’s mental health and developmental milestones. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Oluwaseun earned her MSW through the Erasmus Mundus program, specializing in social work with children and youth across four European countries. She then completed nearly two years of practice in Germany through the European Commission’s voluntary service in social work (Jugend für Europa). She also spent four years providing individual, family, and group mental health therapy in Nigeria and abroad. Her previous professional roles include assistant lecturer, school counselor, research assistant, and mental health counselor. Oluwaseun is a registered and licensed social worker, counselor, and teacher, and holds Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society.
