FSU Social Work Alumni and Staff Among Oasis Center Trailblazer Honorees
Each year, Oasis Center for Women and Girls (Oasis Center) highlights trailblazers in the Tallahassee-Leon County area, recognizing individuals across all professions who have paved the way for future generations to thrive.
This year, two FSU College of Social Work alumni, Hannah Cronic (BS ’15, MSW ’18) and Graciela Marquina (MSW ’03), were honored as 2026 recipients of the Unsung Hero Award. The Unsung Hero awards are presented to individuals who play a critical role in their community but don’t often receive public recognition for their efforts.
Paige McKay Kubik (BA ’86), development director for the college was also honored with a Trailblazer Award. Trailblazer awards are likewise honoring for barriers they have crossed or broken down for others.
The Oasis Center, founded in 2007 was created as a community resource center for women and girls. Former College of Social Work faculty member and alumna Pamela Graham MacDill was a founding board member, donor and a former president of the board for the center.
Each year, the center honors its trailblazers at a Trailblazer Luncheon. This year, the luncheon, held on March 6, 2026, was sponsored by Fasig and Brooks, where another College of Social Work alumna, Dana Brooks, is a managing partner and shareholder.
“I’m thrilled to have our FSU College of Social Work community honored by a valued community partner like the Oasis Center,” said David Springer, dean of the college. “It shines a light on how individual contributions to our community make a meaningful impact and how social work plays a pivotal role among so many professions to make the future brighter for generations to come.”
Hannah Cronic: 2026 Unsung Hero Award
Hanna is the assistant director of the FSU Victim Advocate Program through the FSU Department of Student Support and Transitions. As a victim advocate, she supports students in some of the most difficult situations and has always viewed herself as, “the person who finds a way to get things done. And sometimes that means asking for forgiveness instead of permission.” She is a two-time Florida State graduate, earning her bachelor’s degree in criminology in 2015 and her MSW degree in 2018.
Paige McKay Kubik: 2026 Trailblazer Award
Paige has served as the development director for the FSU College of Social Work since 2024. Prior to her return to Tallahassee, Paige spent 35 years leading human service organizations in Atlanta that supported children and families. "It's an honor to be among such remarkable community members. My work is so rewarding. Being able to give back to my community wherever I am keeps me going." She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras and is an active member of the Tallahassee music community, playing clarinet in the Lofty Pursuits Band. While an undergraduate at FSU, Paige was an active member of the Marching Chiefs, serving as the band’s first female drum major in 1985.
Graciela Marquina: 2026 Unsung Hero Award
Gabriela is the community services advocate with the Survive and Thrive Advocacy Center. She assists survivors of human trafficking in navigating complex systems and finding their voice. “Your compassion, hard work and spirit of justice illuminate your strength,” she shared. “Brilliant women have been carving the road—let’s keep going. We see you!” She earned her MSW degree in 2003 from Florida State.
