The Disaster Cycle Services department within the American Red Cross serves communities to be able to prepare, respond, and recover from Disasters. In relation to this internship agreement, our Client Care Program prioritizes client service and recovery for those impacted by a Disaster. During our normal steady state operations, our Recovery teams are assisting clients who most commonly experience house fires, flooding, trees on houses, and small tornadoes. These teams serve clients across 49 counties in Florida, including many rural counties, vulnerable populations, and all ages. Our Client Care Team consists of casework, Disaster Health Services, Disaster Mental Health Health and Disaster Spiritual Care. Within this program, our casework activity will be applied to the generalist internship need, and our Disaster Mental Health activity will be applied to the clinical internship. The entirety of the Client Care Program aims to support vulnerable clients through their path to recovery. This includes identifying clients' needs, identifying community resources to fill gaps in their recovery, and following up with the clients until they are on a positive recovery path. Their path to recovery may include finding safe housing, replacing items lost, replacing medication and health equipment, supporting their mental needs, and making sure they have access to longer-term resources within the community.
