The Department of Veteran Affairs operates the largest and most comprehensive clinical training program for social work students in the country, training over 900 students each year. The Atlanta VA Health Care System serves the Veteran population from various age groups and wartime eras. The role of the SW trainees at the Atlanta VA Hospital varies depending on program placement; however all SW Trainees will have an opportunity to conduct and provide; Psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, high-risk screening, discharge planning, case management, advocacy, education, psychotherapy (depending on placement).
Special Information Placement
MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Students (clinical) All MSW trainees will be allotted a stipend up to 500 internship hours. The agency is accessible by public transportation.
