Information

The Federal Defender Office (FDO) provides legal representation to indigent individuals charged with federal crimes in federal court.  A large majority of the individuals we represent have mental health issues, substance abuse issues, lack of education, poor social skills, etc.  As a social work intern, they are used to assist in assessing the client presenting problems and needs and identifying appropriate community resources.  The average age range of the clients we serve is about 21-35.

Student will need to have transportation.  Although this is an UNPAID internship, students are reimbursed for any work related mileage.  Agency hours are 8:00am -5:30Pm, Monday-Friday.  There would not be night or weekend work required, nor available.
