The Florida Center for Childhood is a non-profit organization with over 40 years of commitment to helping young children reach their fullest potential.  Its programs focus on infants and children through fifth grade who are at risk academically, socially, or economically.  The Florida Center provides developmental therapies, mental health counseling, and the Starfish Academy preschool in Sarasota and North Port.  In addition, the Florida Center has a contract with Sarasota County Schools where there is one mental health therapist placed in each of the public elementary schools in the county.  The organization also offers Healthy families, a home-visiting programs that guides parents who need assistance.  The state’s only Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorders clinic is located at the Sarasota campus, offering evaluations for individuals of all ages who may have had prenatal exposure to alcohol.

Special Placement Information:

MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced standing, (clinical), Part-time MSW.  We have the only diagnostic clinic for fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders in the State.  Although there may be some part of the position that would/could be done remote, all positions require the student to be able to come to the voice.  We do not offer weekend or evening hours.
