Information

The Advising First Center for College Life Coaching works with students on their transition to college life by emphasizing academic, social, mental, and environmental factors. Students meet bi-weekly to plan, review, and strategize goals. Student populations served include first-time in college, out-of-state, off-campus, Pell recipients, and transfer students. Additional populations are determined by the needs of the university to positively impact retention and persistence. Interns for this program will work primarily with transfer students. Coaches use conversational skills to build rapport, empower the student, and create action plans that align with students' goals. This internship uses a case management model and requires steady outreach to students. Documentation of all student interactions is required as well.
