Newhouse is Kansas City's longest-running domestic violence shelter. We help survivors of domestic violence escape abuse and find safe shelter. Newhouse provides a second chance, new life, and hope for survivors and their families. We are a safe shelter for victims fleeing domestic abuse. With 88 beds, Newhouse houses Kansas City women, men, and children who are most in need. We are the catalyst for survivors of domestic violence to rise through the impacts of trauma by providing an ecosystem of transformative services that lead to safety, self-sufficiency and whole-person healing. We are committed to investing in and influencing the next generation, knowing this is where we truly have the power to break the cycle of domestic violence. We empower survivors to rise from the impacts of trauma. Mental health services include assessments, Adult, Children & Outreach Therapy, referral, individual/group therapy, and more to address depression, PTSD, family issues, and early childhood intervention to overcome the cycle of violence.
Important Information
Accepting BSW, MSW 1st Year, and MSW 2nd Year/Advanced Standing (Clinical) Students. Full-time and Part-time positions available.
1. Will a student will need transportation, is travel reimbursed by the agency, is a stipend available - No transporting is required.
2. Do students need liability insurance - No but we encourage everyone to carry their own liability coverage.
3. Is video or audio taping permitted - No
4. What are the agency's hours? We are open 24/7. Students primarily work between the hours of 9 to 5 pm.

6. Is the agency accessible by bus? Yes
