TEARS, Inc. is a non-profit organization that services youths with substance use/ abuse issues.  The population served are youths between the ages of 11-18, which includes all race, gender, ethnic background, etc.  Social work interns at this facility will practice/provide individual, psycho-education, basic living skills, and group counseling sessions.  They will advocate for their clients in drug court each month.  Interns work learn case management, crisis intervention intake assessment, prevention education, and referrals.  Interns will learn treatment planning; case notes documentation, termination, and follow-ups.  TEARS Inc. services both the Phenix City and Tuskegee areas in Alabama.  We also facilitate prevention group sessions at various school in each area.

Special Placement Information

BSW Full time, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing, (clinical) part-time BSW and Part-Time MSW.  Students will need their own transportation along with liability insurance.  Video and audiotaping are permitted under the guidelines of your institution.  Agency hours are between 10 am – 6:30 pm Monday –Thursday; and 9 am – 3”30 pm on Friday.  Students will work mainly out of our Phenix City Office; however, may be asked to work in Tuskegee at times.  Student’s practicum hours are 10 per week and internship hours are 30-35 per week (will work on students during internship hours).
