Wilson County Department of Social Services provides services that address issues of poverty, family violence ,and exploitation. DSS promotes self-reliance and self-sufficiency and works to prevent abuse, neglect dependency and exploitation of vulnerable individuals, children, and families. Wilson County Department of Social services operating hours are from 8am-5pm.  The Child Welfare and Adult Intervention are permitted and required to work after normal business hours to meet the needs of vulnerable families for their protection.

Wilson County Department of Social Services(WCDSS) does not offer transportation and individuals are responsible for their own transportation to and from work, and during business hours. WCDSS does reimburse for travel to attend any external trainings pertinent to your job duties and to conduct any home visits or transport pertinent to your job duties authorized by the Supervisor and/or Fiscal Department. WCDSS does offer paid internships and video and audio have to be approved by the agency's Director and Communication Manager with valid consents.
