UW Health’s HIV Clinic serves HIV positive individuals of any age regardless of insured status.  We have now also begun providing HIV prevention services through our Prep clinic.  Social Workers provide proactive medical case management via in-depth psycho/social assessment, service plans and clinical interventions  Medical SW services are provided to those not enrolled in case management.  Due to the nature of the patient’s diagnosis(s) social Workers also assist patients in access to and enrolling in health insurance plans and drug coverage plans.  Key areas of focus include advocacy, confidentiality, risk-reduction, gender-affirming care, addressing disparities, complex care coordination.

Special Placement Information

MSW 1st year students, (clinical) part-time MSW.  The student’s work will occur in the medical clinic, which is open from 8-5 M-F.  No transportation/travel required for the role. No video/audio taping.  No stipend.  Multiple bus lines are accessible.  Parking is only for employee permit or patients.  No weekend/evening hours.  No need for additional liability insurance.
