The Community Action Program for Central Arkansas (CAPCA) is a fifty eight year old private non-profit community action agency (CAA). CAA's were born out to the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight the "War on Poverty". CAPCA serves low income individuals through the provisions of programs and services which aim to promote self-sufficiency and lift them out of poverty. Such programs include: Case Management, Early Childhood Education, Low Income Home Energy Assistance, Emergency Assistance, Rapid Rehousing, Homeless Prevention, USDA Commodity Distribution, Emergency Overnight Shelter, and more. We serve clients of all ages. CAPCA intends to meet clients where they are by assessing their needs, strengths, and individual circumstance and creating a plan to help move them out of poverty. Our team work with the client regularly to monitor and evaluate their progress on meeting their goals, and make adjustments as needed. We make referrals to other sources and resources as needed. CAPCA serves as an advocate for the needs of low-income individuals in our communities.
