School Social Work Services acts as a liaison between the school system, students, families, and the community to support in meeting the mission of providing an appropriate education for all students. The School Social work staff are assigned to all public schools in Hillsborough County, which includes Pre-K to Adult Education. School Social workers provide services that include yet limited to conducting home visits, community support services to students and families, completion of evaluations for Exceptional Student Education (ESE) crisis intervention, educational counseling, attendance remediation services, consultation services, and advocacy.
Special placement information:
Accepting MSW 1st-year and MSW 2nd-year/Advanced Standing students. Full- and part-time positions available.
Home visits and meeting outside of school placement are a part of the work experience. Having a car is not a requirement but will support in being able to take advantage of school Social Work experience. Travel reimbursement not available.

Liability insurance not required.
Agency hours: hours depend on the school, Monday through Friday. Weekend and evening hours not available. School Social Workers do not work summer months.
Background check and fingerprints required. The cost to be fingerprinted is $70 ($62 plus $8.00 for District intern badge). Fingerprinting is completed by the Hillsborough County School District. It is the responsibility of the intern to schedule fingerprinting appointment and follow through with the schedule appointment. The intern will be provided with the documentation to complete.
