Honeys Mini Therapy Adventures is a 501c3 that provides portable equine therapy vi Central Florida. Founded and led by Mary Rose Gullet, MSW, RCSWI, the organization utilizes highly trained miniature therapy horses to support the emotional, behavioral, and psychological well-being of individuals in hospitals, schools, senior living behavioral health facilities, and law enforcement partners. The population served includes children, medically fragile individuals, vulnerable populations, older adults with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, and healthcare providers. Clients range in age from toddlers to seniors. Social work interns engage in program delivery, outcome tracking, and research-informed project work on vulnerable and underserved populations.
In addition, students have the opportunity to assist in developing and facilitating school-based therapy and wellness programs focused on mental wellness skills such as DBT and CBT techniques. Interns may also participate in drafting grant proposals to support these programs. Along with helping collect and analyze research and outcome data from group therapy sessions to strengthen program impact and sustainability.
Special Placement Information:
The Agency is accepting BSW Full-time, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year, and Advanced Standing Clinical Students, Part-time BSW, and Part-time MSW. Students will need access to transportation for community visits. No travel reimbursement is provided at this time. (Telehealth hours available) Students must carry liability insurance (per FSU requirement). Organization carries A $3,000,000 liability policy. Insurance from an MSW intern is not a requirement of Honeys. Video/audio taping is allowed but limited and subject to HIPAA-compliant settings. Agency hours are flexible with weekday, evening, and weekend visits. Virtual/remote tasks available. MSW, RCSWI supervision is available. MSW Intern will still need access to an LCSW Qualified Supervisor. Agency is not accessible by public bus.
