The school-based mental wellness department staff of Putnam County School District are tasked with providing both clinical (therapy) and counseling services to students referred to the program who present with at-risk behaviors for developing a Mental Health diagnosis or those that present with an existing diagnosable Mental Health disorder. 
Students are seen on a prevention and intervention basis by a therapist and/or counselor as assessed. Whether in counseling. education or therapy, students can be seen individually or in a group setting. Family sessions are available. 
Students seen range from elementary to secondary (high school)(K-12). 
The role of the Social Work in this setting is to be responsible for linking students to resources/services that connect the student/community in a manner that supports the student's overall social/emotional and behavioral health.
Practicum: students will be supported in having access to students for the purpose of coordinating services to assist student re-engage in the academic environment and the facilitation/organizing/coordination of delivery of prevention education groups by utilizing existing curriculums for resilience building and substance use prevention and intervention. 
The above mentioned prevention services will also be completed in an individual setting. The student will also complete psychosocial assessments. maintain documentation of services provided and complete plans of care as appropriate. 

Intern job description:
Responsibilities will include being supported in having access to students during the summer months for the purpose of coordinating prevention services to assist students with re-engaging in the academic environment by acts of organizing/coordination of prevention educational support on an individual or in a group setting by utilizing existing evidenced based programs/curriculums designated to address resiliency competencies as well as substance use education and prevention. 
Students will complete psychosocial assessments, learn behavioral documentation formats by completing documentation on services provided to students. develop and complete plans of care as appropriate. 
With parental/client consent, students will be offered the opportunity to observe during therapeutic individual sessions/family sessions or group sessions.

Special placement information:
Accepting BSW, MSW 1st-year, and MSW 2nd-year/Advanced Standing (SL + clinical) students. Full- and part-time positions available.
Transportation required. Travel reimbursement available. Agency not accessible by public transit.
Stipend not available.
Liability insurance required.
Video-/Audio-taping permitted.
Agency summer hours: 7:30AM-4:30PM, Monday-Thursday. Weekend and evening hours not available.
COVID-19 vaccination not required.
