The Alachua County Student Services Department offers a range of support services programs with a mission to maximize the academic, health, personal-social, and career development of each student. Programs include: School Counseling. School Social services, Psychoeducational Services, Health services, student discipline, student attendance/dropout prevention, Teenage Parent Program. Student ages range from 5 to 21 years. The role of the social worker is to provide intention counseling (individual, small group counseling, which could include families, and serve as a liaison between school and home for resources and social services. Social workers are assigned caseloads and share time at schools ranging from Pre-K to high school
Special Placement Information:
The Agency accepts BSW Full-time and MSW 1st year students. College students need to provide their transportation. No travel reimbursement. No stipend available. Coverage in terms of liability should be covered in the Affiliation. Agreement with Florida State University. There is seldom a need for weekend work. After school would include parent nights, parent meetings conducted by school staff as well. The agency is accessible by bus.
