We also provide services in Adult Day Training Programs, Supported Living, and Supported Employment. The role of the Social Work at Sunrise is to receive referrals for openings in our group homes, intakes, organize screenings, attend screenings, and complete the admission. Social Work also provides information about the agency to callers, attend and provide information at Resource Fairs, train interns in providing individual group counseling at a few of our Adult Day Training Programs. Social Work runs the three self advocacy chapters called People First of South Florida which is under a grant through FL SAND state self advocacy group. Social Work is involved with Medicaid applications. Social Security issues, and other third party benefits.

The student would need to have transportation to travel to different locations such as the Adult Day Training Programs, group home settings, orientation training, etc. Orientation Training is 1 week (approx. 35 hours). Usually there are not evening or weekend hours unless there is a special event such as a self advocacy meeting or resource fair. There is no travel reimbursement or stipend. The student does not need liability insurance. They will need a background check, drug testing, and TB test, all paid for by Sunrise. They will get that information after the time of interview from our Human Resources Department. They will go to HR to fill out a job application and sign several release documents. No audio or video taping is allowed.
