Growth at the Florida Institute for Child Welfare: New Leadership and Colleagues

Dr. Lisa Magruder: Program Director of Science and Research
In her new role as program director of science and research, Dr. Lisa Magruder guides and oversees all research and project evaluation. She will also play a key role in the development of new research proposals and grant applications. She was previously appointed as a postdoctoral fellow with the Florida Institute for Child Welfare and FSU College of Social Work for two years.
Lisa earned her doctoral degree in social work from the University of Denver. She is also a two-time Florida State University graduate with a Master of Social Work degree from the FSU College of Social Work and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology. Her prior practice experience in social work addresses community issues related to women and girls. She is also a current adjunct instructor with the University of Denver and is a member of the Tallahassee Domestic Violence Coordinating Council.
Shaniece Green: Training Coordinator
Shaniece Green joins the institute’s team as training coordinator, another new position for the institute. In this role, Green oversees the institute's growing training and technical assistance activities. She alsos facilitate the institute’s contract with the Florida Office of Early Learning, which provides racial equity and inclusion awareness training throughout the state.
Green is a graduate of Purdue University with a master’s degree in law/legal studies. She is also a graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) with a bachelor’s degree in African American studies and political science. Her previous experience includes work as a certified social science teacher in Florida and Georgia with a passion to see students succeed.
Breanna Bruner: Media Specialist
Breanna Bruner is a videographer, photographer and documentary filmmaker who joins the Florida Institute for Child Welfare as a media specialist. She coordinates the recording and creation of the institute’s podcast series and facilitates the institute’s ability to provide innovative content and the means of connecting with and educating stakeholders and the general public on the institute’s mission, research and role in maintaining the welfare of Florida’s children.
A Tallahassee native, Bruner is a Florida State University graduate (BA, 2019) from the Department of Art History and Digital Media Production Program. Since 2015, she has assisted several departments and organizations on FSU’s campus with visual production and media including the Department of Art History, College of Fine Arts and Museum of Fine Arts. She has also explored her hometown through the medium of film and photography through the documenting of local small businesses, institutions and community figures.
Open Position: Communications Specialist
