Agency Description:

(BCPP) BraveHeart Center for Place and Purpose is a Health and Wellness, Inclusion-Focused Day Program for young adults with moderate-severe disabilities who serve as Community Inclusion Ambassadors (CIAs) in the East Alabama area. BCPP is an outreach component of the Auburn University Social Work Program, in partnership with First Presbyterian Church of Auburn, established in 2016. 
Operation Jobs seeks to enhance self-esteem and purpose of BCPP's young adults with moderate to severe I/DD and to provide opportunities for supported meaningful work in their communities by providing vocational profiling, jobs coaching, and community inclusion support workers.

Intern Job Description:
Interns at BCPP will complete tasks across micro, mezzo and macro levels of practice. Primary micro tasks  include developing positive, intentional, strengths based, effective professional relationships with young adults with moderate-severe communication and cognitive challenges, their families, program staff, and community partners; assessment, engaging, planning, crisis intervention, skill development, health and wellness coaching, training, job support, interventions for anxiety management, communication skills, time management, behavior management planning and implementation. Primary mezzo tasks include group planning and facilitation- educational and therapeutic; conducting lessons, building community, documentation. Primary Macro tasks include locating resources, developing and supporting community partnerships, grant searches and grant writing.

Special Information:

This agency accepts BSW, MSW 1, and MSW 2 (social leadership) students, both full and part time.  Students will need professional liability insurance. Students need to adhere to all agency COVID precautions and University/State COVID guidelines. Agency Hours - On-site Tuesday-Friday 730am-5pm.
