Agency Description:

Cabarrus County Schools provides educational and support services to Pk-12th students. The role of the school social worker falls under specialized instructional support personnel. The department provides a broad range of services to support students, parents, and staff with a focus on mental health, attendance, and vulnerable populations. 

Intern job description:
The intern will become familiar with the school system, policy and procedures, interdisciplinary teams (EC, MTSS, SISP). They will become familiar with community resources. They will learn to interview and assess students for needs impacting school and learn to provide interventions to support them. The following areas will be addressed: responding to child abuse/neglect, homelessness needs/services/laws, NC attendance/truancy laws and court, interventions to support, mental health services, school crisis intervention, referrals, individual and group counseling. 

Special Information:

This agency accepts MSW 2nd year/advanced standing students, full time. Intern will need transportation to/from work sites, no COVID vaccination is required at this time, but they will need to adhere to CCS HR personnel expectations and background.
