Only free-standing pediatric hospital in site of Alabama. Serves children throughout stat and bordering states with both acute and chronic medical care. Serves as a level one trauma center. Social workers work as liaison between patients, families, and the medical team. Providing psychosocial assessments, identifying social determines of health and health literacy. Social workers function as advocates connecting patients and families to resources, child welfare, and law enforcement. Provide various forms of therapeutic interventions to promote health and wellbeing.
Special Placement Information:
The agency is accepting MSW 2nd year and Advances Standing Clinical Students, (Clinical) Part-time MSW. Social work covers the hospital twenty-four hours a day, each day of year. Placements typically occur Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Parking is provided to MSW intern. Video and audio recordings are prohibited.
